10 days and counting...

Emily and I have about 10 days left before we're done working for Kaman's Art Shoppes at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH.

That's a pretty heavy statement given the fact that as of Sept. 1, 2008, we will have a combined sum of 17 seasons of employment with KAS under our belts.

I feel triumphant that I've persevered through so much at Cedar Point with KAS.  Coming up through the ranks, I've seen many coworkers and even a few managers make their entrances and exits within the span of my employment.  To many ex- KAS Cedar Point employees, I remain as the only link to their past.

Needless to say, KAS is a major facet of my identity.  As the days grow shorter and shorter until our Peace Corps experience begins, my mind excitedly wonders what will become of us.  How does this change our views about "work?"  How will this change our concept of fulfillment and satisfaction with our jobs?  How will our positions as "Small Business Developers" be different than our managerial roles with KAS?

How will our identities change as we discontinue working in a familiar, relatively comfortable setting with complete understanding of the protocols, culture, and expectations therein???

Great blog, thanks for keeping us updated. It's almost like we are there, too. Good luck on learning that difficult language---I'm sure you'll both get the hang of it! Love, Aunt Mary
