What do you want to see?

For those of you who've been keeping up on this blog, you might have noticed that I've been updating it a lot more often recently. I'm not always sure exactly who's looking at this thing, so I'd like to invite you to tell us a little about yourself (are you a friend or family member, fellow PCV, PC applicant, indie crafter, etc.?) and let us know which posts you found most interesting and helpful and what types of posts you'd like to see more of in our last two months of service. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below. Thank you!

How about a "top ten" list from each of you on your best memories and experiences in Morocco over the past couple of years?

As the male half of a married couple currently serving, I have enjoyed the recent reflections. And as I have a very culinary talented wife, please don't stop posting delicious recipes.
Also, I know exactly what you mean even when you're not sure you're being clear. And I would love to know what nuggets of wisdom you glean from this experience. Thank you.

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your blog - shukran! Especially enjoy the pcv blogs that share the local crafts and culture, but the ones about personal experiences and reactions help me better understand what it's like there. As a pcv's mom, it helps me relate to my daughter's experiences - but am posting anonymously otherwise will be called a stalker, ha ha! best wishes to you both, and thanks again!

Well, being related, as I am, your mother, I read All of your blogs, and enjoy pretty much everything.
Whether it be posts about getting into the p .c., tales of traveling, food, or how the experience has affected you.
Anything and everything, can't get enough. : )

Love, Mom

Hello - I just found your blog while doing a search on Moroccan embroidery. I was a PCV in Morocco from 88-90 and learned how to do Fesi embroidery while I was there. Amazing country! I've only read a few of your posts but will catch up on the others soon. Love the embroidery posts I saw. Hope things are going well for you.

Hi Emily & Jon! My husband and I are in the application process for the Peace Corps. We've been nominated for positions in North Africa/Middle East, so we're thinking most likely Morocco or Jordan (unless PC changes our plans in the coming months). I have really enjoyed reading your posts about Morocco and serving as a married couple. We expect to experience many of the same challenges you've experienced along the way. Thank you for sharing your stories and photos! I do have a few questions for you: Were you originally selected for positions in this region, or did that change? Have you found that you had a lot of "free time" during your years of service? Would you mind elaborating on your experiences with communication to the United States? I have many more questions, but I really appreciate any advice you can give. Thank you!

One more thing... we are both vegetarian/vegan. I noticed that your experiences involved meat. Do you think we will have any major challenges in Morocco with this issue? Based on your experience, do you believe we will have options other than meat, including the time with host families? Just curious to see if you think this will be a great source of frustration for us. Thank you!

Megan, thank you for your comments and excellent questions! To answer a couple of your questions...
Yes we were originally nominated for the SBD program in North Africa/middle east, and since Jordan is the only other country in this region (at the time at least) we pretty much knew we'd be coming here, as I don't believe Jordan had an SBD program. As for communication with people back home, it is quite easy, as we have internet in our home. We can email, blog, use facebook, even Skype right from the comfort of our house. In fact, our situation is very common as almost ALL SBD and YD sites and even health and environment sites have easy access to internet, which will be your lifeline home, as calling via cell phone is expensive and letters take about 2 weeks. We will try to address your vegetarian questions in the near future. Thank you for reading!
